RADIO PROGRAMME

FRIDAY, JULY 10th. The Orchestral Octet will provide the instrumental portion of lYA's programme this evening. Amongst the numbers will be ‘‘Cobweb Oasile,” “The. Arcad•.ans” selection, and “Carmen” Ballet -Music. -Miss Rita Thomas, a well known contralto, is making her first appearance at this station as a soloist, and Miss Edna Thomas will give humorous items. Tenor solos will be sung by .Mr J. Ainsley Dagltsh, and Mr Simon PhiKpotf will give items on the balalaika. A varied programme will be presented by the 2YA Orehestrina. Dorrie and iLaurie, a bright and breezy couple, will delight listeners in up-to-date songs and stories. '.Miss Ann Gilpin (mezzo-soprano) w.ll sing four songs with orchestral accompaniment “Remembrance,” “The Valny and the Hill,” "The Forge,” and “Silent O’-Vloyle.” Messrs Berthold and Bent, guitar duo, will be heard in a new budget of popular numbers. There will be baritone solos by Mr A. W. Beck ford.
The Dulcet Quartet will be the vocalists at 3YA, singing concerted and solo numbers. Solos will be sung by Mrs W. B. Hams, Miss IN elite Low*, Mr James Shaw and Mr A. G. Thompson. A duet, “Oarmena,” will be sung by Miss Lowe tod .vir Shaw. Piano novelties will be provided by the Studio Octet, which will also accompany many of the vocal numbers.
“Songs of Other Days” will be the programme presented from 4YA Studio. In addition to the popular Dagg’s Band, five very line vocalists will appear, singing old time songs/.'' Number such as "Ta-iRa-Bcom-Dc-Ay,”' “M’Gbity's Return,” “My Mother’s Old Red Shawl,’’ "Bank of Monte Carlo,’’ “The Miner’s Dream of Home” and “The Little Old Log Cabin in the Lane,” are a few of the items which will be performed on this programme. Lovers of tin so songs will enjoy a rare treat when they hear this presentation.
SATURDAY, JULY 11th. : This evening, IYA will relay from the Auckland Town .hall, the concert to be given by the Municipal Band, under the direction of Mr George Buckley. The soloists for the programme will be Messrs F. Bowes and J. Davies (cornet duet-, tists), Hal. G. .McLennan (flautist) and Roland Jackson (xylophonist).
The .Melodie Four will supply the major portion of the vocal items on TYiA’s programme. Miss Majorie Bennie (mezzo-contralto) will also be s.ngirtg.
r ..-ißan ihand will be included in the programme in novelty piano numbers. The Salon •Orchestra, under Mr M. T. Dixon, will supply the incidental music, which will be of a varied nature.
A feature of 3.YA’s programme (which will also be broadcast by 4YA) will be the Items to be contributed by the Caledonian Society’s Pipe Band. Each selection will be introduced with a few explanatory remarks by Piper McDiarmid (late of the Black Watch), -m 'Highland tunes have a history, the telling of which will greatly enhance the inLerest of listeners. Also on the evening’s programme will be Mr Leslie A. .Stewart (popular baritone), the Rose and I histle Duo (singing, cabaret songs at the piano, with banjolele), The Chatterboxes (in song and story), Air L. T. J. Ryan (serio-comic recitation) and Frances and Theo Gunther (English concertina duo).
