WAGGONS DERAILED AT KAIIWI

WANGANUI, July 9

An axle breaking on a truck on a mixed train just before noon to-day, near Kaiiwi, resulted in the derailment

of three waggons. One truck was smashed to pieces, but beyond, that little damage was done, the permanent way not being impaired. A dislocation of traffic resulted, and the Railway Department used a special | train and motor-ears to tranship passengers, neither the up nor down New Plymouth expresses having passed Kaiiwi when the .accident occurred. The line was cleared this evening.
