INQUEST VERDICT.

CHRISTCHURCH, July 9.

A verdict of suicide while temporarily insane, was returned by the Coroner at the resumed inquest on Charles Lyes, found dead at AVoolston on Saturday, with a bullet wound in the head. Doctor Pearson (Pathologist) said that the" wound in the head was unusual, but lie considered it quite possible to have been self inflicted.

The inquest had previously been adjourned as the Coroner had expressed a doubt whether the would could have been self inflicted.

CAUCUS. OF REFORM PARTY

WELLINGTON, July 7

Members of the Reform Party met in caucus this morning, but Mr Coates declared at the conclusion that there was nothing to make public. He had nothing to announce regarding the memorandum forwarded to him on the subject of fusion It is understood that the caucus was called to considered the Unemployment Amendment Bill and that a course of action to be -taken during the committee stages was decided upon.

A CLAUSE REPEALED

WELLINGTON, July 7

As the Transport Licensing Bill proposes to cover control of all motor omnibuses there is a clause in the new measure repealing Section 6 of the Christchurch Tramway District Amendment Act. 1927. This clause was a modification of the Motor Omnibus Traffic Act. of 1926, waiving the provision that the licensing authority shall prescribe timetables to be observed by any motor omnibus service of the board and the fares to be charged, though the Tramways Board was required to notify the licensing authority of its timetables and fares. The clause proposed to be repeal 'd also authorises the Tramway Board to run motor omnibuses supplementing its services on tram routes without obtaining permission of the licensing authority.
