The famous Indian rope trick, said never to have been done before t>y a white man, was performed in England by Professor Bofeys.
Expert magicians attending the convention of the British Ring of the Magicians' International Brotherhood comprised the audience, and watched Bofeys throw a hempen rope into'the air, where it remained rigid,, at a height of 15 feet, though the upper end was unsupported, says the “Daily Mail.”
The tiny seven-year-old daughter of one of the delegates climbed up the rope to the top, where she Vanished 1 Press photographers : took pictures of the girl climbing, but when the plates were developed they showed no trace of the girl—only the rope. One of these pictures was published in the “Daily Mail.” “The trick is pure illusion,” said; Bofeys, “both on the part of the spectator and mv assistant,” but refused to divulge anything further.
