New Zealand cricketers common, ed badly against Nottinghamshire. Weir was caught at second .slip off the third ball of the day. Blunt was beaten by Barratt’s off-swinger and Vivian snicked Voce into the slips. Barratt and Voce were both .swinging appreciably. Three wickets fell in half an hour for fifteen runs.
Dempster and Page then settled down to retrieve matters' nad, there was steady hatting until Dempster was cauight at short slip from a weak shot. Rain again stopped play. Lowry and Page continued to bat well after lunch, Lowry playing fine shots to the off. He was caught at miden at. tempting to force Staples. Page batted steadily with sound defence, until he played outside an off-spinner of Barratt, who also dismissed Allcott and Talbot in rapid , succession, ’ breaking the ball back appreciably, Cromb and James batted attractively until thero was a. thunderstorm at 3.45 which caused an abandonment of the game.
