NEW PARTY FORMED. DUNEDIN, July 3. It is understood that there is a movement afoot in Dunedin to establish a new political party, to lie known as the New Zealand Democratic Party. It is reported that with a view to having tiie paity thoroughly organised on a national basis throughout the Dominion an enthusiastic representative committee lias been elected. Arrangements are being made to have the policy explained lully at a public meeting.
PARNELL SEAT. AUCKLAND, July 3. Mr John Caugh'ey, formerly Director of Education, has been chosen as Lite United Party’s candidate for the Parnell seat, which was originally won by Mr H. R. Jenkins, who retired,, Mr W. P. Eiidean, a Reformer succeeding him. SIR J. PARR’S POSITION. WELLINGTON, July 3. The announcement of Dir D. Stewart Reid’s candidature for the Raglan seat in the Reform interests is regarded in political circles liei'e ns a fairly reliable indication that tile Reform Party has reverted to its original intention of nominating Sir James Parr for the Waikato seat, for which Mr Reid was previously announced as candidate. Mr Reid represented Waikato in the 19 251928 Parliament.
