This afternoon, IYA is on the air to broadcast results ot the Tauinarunui Racing Club's Meeting, which will be held at EHershe Racecourse. 2VA. listeners w.ll this evening have the opportunity of hearing the whole of a grand opera. Signor Lucian Cesaroni's 'Operatic Company will present Mascagni's celebrated "Cavalleria 'Rusfcicana” in its entirety, and a tine production is assured. Signor Cesaroni will also sing the “Prologue” from "1 Pagliacci” (by .Leoncavallo), and Allred 'Hill’s powerful song “Tangi.” Mr cordon Short will play Moszkowski’s brilliant “Polonaise.” Several new radio artists will provide the vocal numbers for the programme to be given from 3YA by the Woolston, ißand. Se.'ss A del a WellarcUKing (mezzo-soprano) Mr S. J. Goslin (baritone), and Mr T. Gumming (humorous reciter,) will be contributing. Mr Goslin is a Christchurch music teacher, with Ixnulon training. Mr Gumming was a prize winner at the recent Christchurch Competitions. A cornet solo, “Redcap,” will be played bv Bandsman R. Ohlson. For the International Programme at 4YA this evening, Mr J. Crossley GTitheroe, Lecturer on Music at the Dunedin Training College, will be the speaker. His subject will be; “The International Kinship of 'Music.’ TUBS!)AY, .JULY 7th. The speaker for the International Programme at IYA this evening, will he the Rev. VV. G. Monckton, AI.A. Mr Monckton is one of the best known lecturers in Auckland and his subject will be; "The Human Element in the World Economic Position.’’ Ihe 2YA Studio concert will be of the popular. type. A new combination, “ I he Radio Three,” will be a feature of iho programme. They will he heard in vocal amt piano novelty numbers. Mr •J. H. Leu will sing four bass solos. Mrs hi. Ransom Myers (mezzo-soprano) will delight listeners ill three songs with orch.steal accompaniment. The humorous element will' be provided by Mr 1,. n oshton and the’ incidental music will be supplied by the Salon Orchestra.
An exceptionally popular programme iy the ivaikonti Band will be presented from 4YA. The vocal portion is in the hands of a male quartet called the “four Aces.” ’..one of the concerted efforts by this combination has previously been p rl'ormid the microphone. An opening chorus and a closing chorus composed by local musicians, as well as a very tine male quartet composition eniitled “A. Little .Close .Harmony,” are included amongst the items. Various members of the party will provide popular solos. The well known instrumental trio, consisting of '.Messrs Pettitt, Law and Hunter, will also he in attendance. Amongst the band items will be “Irafagar” '(arranged by Ord Hume), which has no: been broadcast before in New Zealand. It has a nautical atmosphere.. A section is allocated to the well known ballad “The Death of ‘Nelson.
