SCHNEIDER CUP PLANE SINKS

United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.— Copyright.) RUGBY, July 3. One of the aircraft used for training purposes by the High Speed Flight now engaged in practice for the Schneider Trophy at Oalshot, had to alight to-day on Southampton "Water owing to a minor defect. Ta landing in a cross wind, and in wako of a parsing steamer, the senplan# overturned and sank. The seaplane was piloted by Flight-Lieutenant Hope, who freed himself from the machine, and was swimming when ho was picked up by . an attendant service boat, Hope whs practically unhurt. Efforts are being made, with the cooperation of the Commander in-Chief of the Royal Navy at Portsmouth, to salve the machine. Divers are being sent to the spot for the purpose.
