If the Governor agrees to the Labour caucus proposal for swamping the Legislative Council with Labour nominees at least fifty appointments will bo necessary, so Ministerialists say. The question of the Cover riot's recall will depend on his answer.
The “Labour Daily” newspaper cites: —“How New Zealand smashed the Legislative Council’s power in 1891-92, when Lord Onslow was Governor” and points out that New Zealand Council obstructed many measures. The Governor refused additional appointments to the Council and his action was overruled hv the Secretary for State for the Colonies. CUSTOMS ENOUTRV. SYDNEY, July 4.
