THEFT BY SALESMAN. (By Telegraph —Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 20. George Paul Zac-key a salesman aged forty-three, was sent to prison tor-three months for lading to account to the Goods Housekeeping Association, Ltd., for 123 7s l.od. For giving an unstamped receipt he was fined 10s.
SPARROW SHOOTING COMPETiTI ON. HAMILTON, June 29. The New Zealand Gun Club’s annual shoot was continued to-day,' under adverse weather conditions, rendering shooting difficult. In the £SO sparrow handicap to-day, E. Groom (Otane) and H. Clinch (National Park) shot the possible 14 birds, dividing the stake. Protests were voiced in various quarters against the live pigeon shooting.

WELLINGTON, June 29. Heavy hail fell in Wellington shortly after 6 o’clock this evening. The fall of rain and hail in the city for the 24 hoars ended at 10.30 tonight was nearly one-third of an inch.

WANGANUI, June 29
Rough weather generally was experienced off the local coast last night, and the IxaPngo, which is expected at Wanganui to-morrow from Newcastle, via Auckland, could not make more than five knots an hour against the wind. N.Z. AND ICEBERGS. WELLINGTON, June 29. Dr Kidson, Government Meteorologist, says that the icebergs came closer to New Zealand in the month of November than at other times, but the weather has been unusually cold, ami there have been more southerlies than usual, thus tending to bring icebergs further north.
It is quite possible, he says. th-u an iceberg has been seen near Dunedin. Icebergs had gone as far north as Latitude 40 to the east of New Zealand. He could not remember that any iceberg had been seen to the west J the Dominion.

BUILDERS’ UNION OBJECT

The Wellington Builders’ and . Gen. oral Labourers’ Union carried a motion this evening that its momlurs shall refuse to pay the unemployment levy unless satisfactory amendments are made to the Act this session.
STRUCK OFF THE ROLL.
WELLINGTON, June 30
An order was made by the Court of Appeal striking Percival John Scantlebury off the rolls of practising barristers and solicitors of the Dominon. An allegation made by Counsel for the New Zealand Law Society was that Scantlchurv misappropriated £314 13s 7d belong’ng t) clients. Costs of £ls 15s disbursements were allowed the Law Society.
