Several British women competitors at Wimbledon are playing without stockings and with their legs "painted,” says the “News-Chronicle.” The shades of “paint” range from pale beige to deep -sunburn, the colouring being applied in the form of cream or paste. The innovators declare that the fashion is spreading and saves the cost of stockings.

According to the “News Chronicle,” there is considerable speculation fallowing the announcement of the ball at Buckingham Palace to be given by the King and Queen. It is stated that it may be the occasion of an interesting announcement-, such as a Royal romance.

‘You cannot help using physicial force, even at a disarmament meeting,” said the Rev. Bebe Barrett, when the stewards ejected interruptors at a Westminister Hall meeting in support of the world disarmament conference. A melee followed. There were shouts of “Traitors” from the gallery when Lord Robert Cecil rose to speak. The Archbishop of York, Dr. Lang, who presided, said that they could not support any further proposal .for unilateral disarmament. Britain had done her bit.
MARRIAGE A BAR,
WOMEN MINISTERS
LONDON, June 19,
“We are not aware of any function of the ordained ministry for which woman is disqualified merely on the ground of sex,” states the report of the joint committee appointed by the Wesleyan, the United, and the Primitive Methodist Churches, to consider the admission of women to the ministry.
The report recommends that the marriage of a women minister be regarded as equivalent to resignation, unless conference specially determines otherwise.
WALK ROUND THE WORLD

ROME, June 20
Vittorio Honanante, an Italian resident of London, has arrived at Lome, after having won a bet, made in i 922. that he’ would travel, mainly on foot, around the world, covering 10,000 miles and paying his way by selling stationery. The journey has taken nine years. Ho,s route included Europe. Siberia. China, Tibet, Afghanistan. India, Australia and Egypt. Honanante kept a diary in which are photographs and autographs of prominent personalities he encountered. He intends to publish it in book form.
