HOUSE BREAKING
A BURGLARY. (Ihj Tclajraph—Per Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, June 27. A daring attempt at burglary was made at the premises of J. Mortensen, jeweller, in the main business area last night. A large front window was smashed and three watches of a total value of £lO were taken from a tray. The thief evidently was disturbed in the midst of his operations as other valuable jewellery within arm’s reach was untouched. A gimlet was found in the door next to the lock.
TWO BURGLARIES
CHRISTCHURCH, June 29
Burglars on Saturday night entered A. B. Pointin’s jewellery shop on R.icearton Road and stole stock valued at £.IOO. after having smashed tliio panel of a door. Thieves also entered the National Cash Register Agency in Gloucester Street, stealing £lO in cash. Hero they picked the locks.
SHOP BURGLED. DUNEDIN. June 29. A suburban shop was broken into during the week end and goods, chiefly tobacco, of a total value cf £3O was stolen.
