RADIO PROGRAMME

FRIDAY, JUNE 26th. A new artist is making an appearance on llA's programme this evening, -urs E. Butlin mezzo-soprano, and she will be heard in several nallads. The other vocalist is Mr Arthur Wright, already well knoWh for his line singing at microphone. The IVA Orchestral Octet will supply the major portion of the programme. Frank Wade and his Melody Boys will be heard in several of the latest hits. '1 here, will be much variety in 2YA’s concert. Mrs Mildred Kenny’s Guitar Trio will again delight listeners with melodies including two Maori numbers, “E iPari Ra” and “Tahi \le Tarn Kino.’’ •nr Claude Moss (baritone) will be heard in three solos with orchestral accompaniment. Mr Clement May, elocutionist, will recite four extracts from “The Sentimental Bloke.” Iso on this programme will bo Will Yates, elocutionist, in a number entitled “Brighter Programmes.”. The Orehestrina, under Signor A. P. Truda, will present an attractive programme.

Excerpts from Oscar Strauss’s ‘“A Waltz Dream” and from Talbot and Finch’s “My 'Lady Frayle” will comprise the vocal numbers at 3YA. The singers will be Miss Add’.e Campbell and the Salon Quartet. Two-piano items will be played by Miss Maisie Ottey and Miss C. M. Miller. There will be humorous numbers by Mr 11. Instone, ’cello it.-ms by Mr Harold Beck and trios by the Christchurch Broadcasting Tr.o. The concluding half hour of the. evenings programme will be devoted to a gramophone lecture-recital by Mr Karl Atkinson, on “Monarchs of the Key-Board.” An interesting attraction on 4YA s programme will be a half-hour’s recital ot ‘Old English Songs” (of the Victoria era) by Mr John T. Leech assisted by Miss Maude Kenward and Miss Murad Caddie, L.T.C.L. A short d -sorption ol each song will be given. Contributing to the remainder of the programme wil be Miss D. StenUfoid (contralto), th Lyric Four (a male voice quartet), Mr Lester Moller (humorist), Mr E. J. Andrews '(xylophonist) and the •Bluebird Hawaiian Trio.

SATURDAY, JUNE 27th. This evening IYA will relay the Municipal Build concert to be given in the Auckland Town iHall. The vocalists tor the concert will be -Jr Frank Campbell (tenor) and Miss Bunty Stuart (contralto). llbe Melodic Four will supply the major portion of the vocal items at ss Nora Greene (contralto) will be heard in “Life’s Sunset Bar,' “me Night Nursery,” “My D ares ” id ”0 Flowtr Divine.” Ineludtd in the programme by the Salon Orth . tra will ue the fantas a "In Days of Old,” a violin solo with orchestral accompaniment, "Scene de la Czardas” to be play'd by Mr W. Haydock. Lyndon Christie’s Rhy-hmic Symphon ists will provide the instrumental music it 3YA. The programme will also be broadcast by 4YA. There will be much variety in the items, which will in elude the ”1812 Overture,” the "Chinese Doll,” one of McDowell’s pretty sketches, ‘to a (Water Lily,” a selection, "Hit the Deck,” a sketch. “The Watermelon’’ mcl two foxtrots. As a saxophone solo, •ir Christie will play Rudie Wiedoeft’s ‘‘Valse Erica,” and violin solos will lv r-ontivbiited by Miss Irene Morris. Miss ' ellie Lowe and Mr James Shaw will be heard in solos and a duet. 'Mr Joel; Lockhart’s contribution to the programme will be humour in song and story.
