TO THE VATICAN,

ROME, June 24. Government’s official reply to ' the Vatican repeats the protest against “Illicit interference by the Holy See in international affairs of Italy, and byspeeches, telegrams and appeals to public opinion abroad, upon the carrying of these events outside the proper place.” The reply adds that greater regard should be shown for the duties imposed on the Holy See. Privileges must not be converted into weapons against the State.
