OBITUARY
CAPTAIN G. H. NOAKES. WELLINGTON, June 24. The New Zealand Shipping Company has received advice that the company’s late cargo superintendent in London, Captain G, JJ, Noakes, died yesterday morning, at th° ago of sixty-eight, He was the oldest skipper ip the company’s service, His association with New Zealand extended back to 1885, when he arrived as chief officer of the sailing ship Hurunui. Later lie commanded the sailing ships Rangitiki and Turnkina. Captain Noakes later became the company’s superintendent, and remained in England for the remainder of hig Hie, except when he visited New Zealand just over a year ago on a health recruiting trip, after thirty-five year’s absence from the Dominion,
