RADIO PROGRAMME
(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) MONDAY, JUNE- 22nd. Mrs Amy "Woodward (soprano) ami Mrs Wilfred Andrews (contralto) will give the second of their series of radio recitals at 2YA this evening. In the first half of the programme they wifi sing groups of songs by Schumann, who is the subject of this week’s “Musical Portrait.” Mr Cordon Short, pianist, will present “Twenty minutes with the Music of (Schumann” and will play selections from his “Carnival” and “Fan. tasia,” and, with Mr Hay dock (violinist), selections from his Sonatas for Piano and Violin. In the second halt of the programme there will he a half hour with “Maritana” when some favourite songs from this popular opera, will lie sung by Mrs Woodward, Airs Andrews and Mr Eric Harrison, with orchestral accompaniment. Mr Eric Harrison will also sing solos by Schumann and , Cojeridge-Taylor. The vocalists for 3YA’s hand concert will he Miss C. Freeman Brown (contralto), Mr .T. Haydn Williams (tenor), Mr K. Murray Fountain (baritone) and Air Jack Blair (singing cabaret songs at the piano). The Christchurch Municipal Band, .under Air J. Noble will supply the instrumental music. As a cornet duo, Bandsman E. Bruce and E. Barber will play the polka “Jollification.” The speaker for the International Talk on A'fonday evening at 4YA will be Air J. T. Paul, whose subject will he : “Russia—Her International Ralnfc ions. Silent day IYA. TUESDAY, JUNE 23rd. The speaker for the International Programme at IYA this evening, will be ; .rs Gordon 'Robertson, an Auckland musician with long experience in lectururing.. Her subject will be ‘".Music Among the 'Nations To-dav.” Featured on 2YA's programme will be Airs Clarice Niven (soprano) a new comer to 2YA. She hails from Palmerston North and has h;id considerable ■>'.p.ri no on the concert platform. The Lyric Quartet will again delight listeners in quartettes and A feature of these will he two ’ ' ’ “The World of the Eyes” *»*wl “ ,v h n :1 Went out a walking,” which will K sung to string quartette accompaniment. The Salon Orchestra, under ,r »- Dixon, will supply the incidental music. Sir Edward Elgar’s famous choral work. “Uaractucus,’’ to lie produced in the Dum'din Town Hall by the Dunedin '■’horal Society, will he broadcast by 4YA. The soloists for the evening will he; soprano, Miss Tensa M’Enroe ; tenor. Mr 'Hubert, Carter (of Christchurch) ; bass-baritone, Mr Wilfred Kershaw; bass, Mr H. P. Desmoulins. Dr V. E. Galway will he the organist. Silent day at 3A’A.
