MOUNTAINEERING ACCIDENT
AVALANCHE CARRIES CLIMBER OVER PRECIPICE. A NIGHT IN THE HILLS. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, J.m e 22. Through being carried over a precipice on an ayplaiiche on a peak ;.t Arthurs Pass yesterday, Cedric Hodgson Turner, an employee of Ivaiapoi Woollen Mills, aged 22 years, was badly injured. So far as is known, lie is suffering from several broken ribs and injuries to Ids thigh, but the full extent will not be known until the return of a relief party. The accident occurred on practically the same spot where two climbers were injured on a previous Sunday. Up till noon to-day Turner had not been brought in, owing to the difficult naif ure of the country, but rescuers spent all night with him having taken up a tent, stretcher and supplies.
