SOLDIERS’ PENSIONS
AID FOR EX-SOLDIERS. (By Telegraph—Per gpess Association) f WELLINGTON, June 19. An announcement that the Government is taking immediate steps to put into operation the Disabled Soldiers’ Civil Re-establishment Act. passed last year, was .made, by Hon. Mr. Cob be to-day. Although'the Act "had been on thje Statute Book since October, he said, the Government had been unable, owing to depression and ' financial stringency to set the machinery in motion.; As financial arrangements had npu;; l)adv/bPMrf<K cided to appoint almost immediately local Advisory Committees, the nominations for which had already been, received from ftU .the interested bodies, except the New Zealand Employers Federation, and at the same time to appoint Employment Officers, who wil. co-operate with Committees. 'When these appointments had been made, he said, the Pensions Department will be in a position to receive and deal with applications from exsoldiers wishing to avail themselves c. the provisions of the Act,
