RADIO PROGRAMME
(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company 3 of N.Z. Ltd.) FRIDAY, JuNE 19th. 'Miss Patricia McLeod will sing for IYA this evening. Her Hue soprano voice will be heard in “The Last Rose of Summer,” “il Bacio” and “Phyllis is my Only Joy/’ the last mentioned being an old English tune. Mr J., 13. McLean, tenor, will sing The old favourite come into the Harden, Maud” ‘-and two Scottish songs. Mr Robert McKnight, an exponent of the English concertina, will provide several melodies on that instrument. The orchestral numbers oh the programme will be provided by the IYA Octet, under Mr Harold Baxter.
A feature of 2YA’s concert programme will be the items by the VVaiata Quartet of ladies. Also on this programme will be the popular guitar duo, Bcrthold and Bent. The Orchestrina, under Signor A. P. Truda, will feature the two-step “2YIA,”. the words of which were written .<y Mr Claude Douglas of Wellington with music composed by Professor Savini, of Christchurch. Mrs A. P. Truda will be the vocalist.
Excerpts from the comic opera “Dorothy” in solo and chorus form will be featured on SYA’s programme, the vocalists being the Melodious Quartet, -also contributing to the programme will be i.Yl'iss Ail eon Warren (Pianistel. Mr 'Eddie Megan (humour in song and story), Mr Stan. Birch (banjolin) and t.ie Christchurch Broadcasting Trio and the Studio Octet.
AY A lias a miscellaneous programme for thjs evening. The Sextette will present a variety of items. On the vocal s : de, quartettes hv the •Harmonists will be a feature. These will include two humorous choruses, “Three Songs from 'Pillicock ‘Hill” and “The Hums of Pooh.” Solos will be sung by Miss (Mae Matheson, Miss M. S. Green and •Mr. C. S. Hawes, while two old-time, numbers will be recited by Mr J. B. MdConnell. SATURDAY, June 20th. This evening IYA will relay from the Auckland Town Hall, a concert to be given by the Municipal Choir, under' the conductorsh'p of Mr Maughan Barnett. i2YA is featuring a Scottish concert. Both 4YA and 3YA w ; ll he broadcasting a vaudeville concert to be given in the 4YA Studio. The 'Regal Four male voice quartet will be heard in several very popular choruses, such as ' eJlie Grey,” “Dixie,” “Hard Times,'’ '“Carry me Back to Old Virginity” etc. "‘Aloha Oe” will be sung as a duet. Miss Rita Holmes, soprano, will also cotitlribute to the vocal side of the. programme. Irish and Hebrew humour will be introduced by Mr W. B. Lambert. There will be a banjo band—iMY U. Stokes's excellent combination—and Mr ■ . J. Sinton, xylophonist. Trios will be supplied by Messrs Pettitt, Hunter and Law.
