This is the first time since full “seeding” has been in operation at Wimbledon in the men’s singles that two Englishmen have been among the select eight. In the women’s singles the seeded players are: Misses Nuthall and Mlidford and Mrs Whittingstall (Britain), Fraulein Aussem a t nd Franlein Rrah winkel (Germany), Madame Matlnen (France), Miss Jacobs (America) ana Senorita D’Alverez (Spain). In the women’s international tennis tourney at Eastbourne to-day, Britain defeated France, winning all six matches.
