Blinding rain squalls driven by strong south-Avest gales, accompanied by rough ■seas, have lashed NeAv South Wales coast in the last -twenty-four hours and has disorganised shipping. The Dutch steamer Arendsherk tried for hours to enter Sydney Heads and -Coasters were forced to turn back. Inland, the rain, hoAvever Avas lighter and the flood position on the Murray Murrumbidgee and Lachlan rivers is rioAv easier.
