SHIPPING TROUBLE
QUIET AT DUNEDIN. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) DUNEDIN, June 17. There is rather a doleful feeling here concerning the prospect of the coastal shipping liold-up though there is no trouble here yet. The Knrow was discharged and .sailed .or Oamani, and the Wairuna sails this afternoon. The local belief is that the plan is to hold up vessels as soon as their voyages are completed.
UNEMPLOYED DECISION.;,,. NOT TO MAN SHIPS. AUCKLAND, June 17. A decision to assure the Marine Workers Union that any call for labour to man the ships held up by the wage ■dispute, would meet with a definite refusal by unemployed, was reached, at a large meeting of unemployed this morning. They also agreed to c-o-oper-ate with organised labour on the water* iiont and bold a mass demonstration at the wharves to-morrow.
NO DEVELOPMENTS. AUCKLAND; June 17, There were no developments this morning in the shipping dispute. Nr ships were paid off but the Waimea may he paid off this afternoon. Notice to the cooks and stewards of the Kainiamuvii and Kiwi tea. expires tin's afternoon,
, The Union Coy. will pursue the same policy with each arriving ship giving men 24 hours notice to accept the lower rates or fie paid off.
There was no statement by Union officials, who are awaiting the outcome of the conference in Wellington.
