TUESDAY, JUNE 16th. The speaker for the International programme at IYA. this evening will b<. ; ..ir A. B. Chappell. His subject will be “The Pacific—Yesterday, To-day, To morrow." *
In a popular type of programme from 21 A, the Salon Oroh under 'Mr L\l. T. Dixon, will supply the incidental music. The Melodie Tour will provide the major portion of the vocal .items, which will include quartettes, duets and solos. Miss 'Gwladvs Fdwardes (soprano) will sing to orchestral accompaniment, "For the Green," “There's a Land,” “Stay with me Summer," and “At 'Eve* I 'Heard a Flute.” Another of the series of talks on “The Origins of Music" will be given from ,4YA at 7/10 p.m. by Mr J. Crossley Clitheroe, under the auspices of the VV.jp], A. The Dunedin Tramways Band, under Mr Chas. T. Morgan, will provide a programme from 4YA. If will be of a popular, miscellaneous nature. On the vocal side, there will be two duets by Miss 'Lottie de Clifford and Mr .1. EDavies, the items being the ‘’Miserere’” (from “II Trovatore”) and “In Springtime.” Several quartettes will be sung by the Select Four. As a contralto solo, Miss Betty Hamilton will sing “Song of Florian” and Mr E. Bond (bass) will sing “Yeomen of England.” Scottish humour of the Lauder type will be added to the programme by Mr B. JBrown. Silent day at 3YA.
WEDNESDAY, June 17tli
The Birkenhead Municipal Band, under the conductorship of Lieut. J. I • iLighton, will provide a programme lor IYA this evening. The Clarion Quartet w 11 provide the vocal programme wh'rh v'll be of a m'sf llanonns nature. Among the comvrted numb rs will be “Dear Little (Shamrock," "Over the Garden Wall," “’Fred" and “Departure.” T.uv duets will comprise "Watchman, What of the Night,” and "Bird Songs at Eventide.”
