VALEDICTORY

Dr. B. L. Wilson, acting medical superintendent of the Southland Hospital. who has received an appointment as medical superintendent of Westland Hospital and will leave shortly to take up his new position, was iarewelled last week by the Southland Hospital Board. Air H. E. Niven, acting chairman,, briefly expressed to Dr. Wilson, the high appreciation of the Board of his services on behalf of the Board. The doctor had done will m a subordinate position and since the' departure of the medical superintendent on an extended crip abroad h s services as superintend lit had been such that tire Board felt it had been thoroughly justified in appointing him to take chvrge; of the institubon. Dr and Airs Basil Wilson left Invercargill on Sunday for their new home in Hokitika. Dr Wilson, who has been acting-medical superintendent at the ■•Southland Hospital during nr QwenJohnston’s absence’, was met by the returned soldier out and in*paX:ents oni (Thursday morning and presented with a' travelling rug. In the afternoon members of the ‘Returned Soldiers’ Association entertained Dr and Mrs Wilson, and Matron fooss and Sister Anderson of the Southland Hospital represented the nursing staff. Dr Wilson was the recipient of another rug. At a recCrt medical dinner members .of the Southland Division of the British Medical Association presented tV doctor w. th am inscribed" clock. On Friday evening Dr and Airs Wilson and their small daughter were entertained by the sisters ami nurses in the Nurses’ Home.
