SUPREME COURT

SITTINCS AT HOKITIKA. MONDAY, JUNE 15. (Before His Honor Air Justice Adams). His Honor took his seat at 10.30 a.ni. GRAND JURY. The following Grand Jury were empanelled:—C. H. Guthrev, L. Gooch, H. 1, . Miichel. H. F. Cooke, A. Parkhill, B. Tlieini, J. Ward, S. Bassett, 11. C. Key, G. Sutherland, F. Oliver, J. Duncan, A. O. Armstrong, A. AlrDougall, W. H. Gifford, A. H. Nancekivell, J. N. Robinson, J. J. Breeze, T. Aloore, W. J. Houston, A. E. Benjamin, C. H. Berendt and J. Peake. Mr A. E. Benjamin was chosen foreman.

His Honor addressing the Grand Jury stated there was only one charge to deal with, a charge of an indecent; assault on a young girl. For obvious reasons he would not enter into details of the case, but would leave it to the Grand Jury to decide. It was a simple case for their consideration. The Grand Jury retired at 10.50 and returned at 11.10 .with a true bill against George Andrews. The Grand Jury were then discharged from attendance. THE KING V. GEORGE ANDREWS. A charge of indecently assaulting a child under the age of six years on June 3rd. at Hokitika. Mr Elcock appeared for accused and Mr Park for the Crown. Accused pleaded not guilty. The following jury were empanelled: -«Jas. Kerr, J. M. Schroder, A, J, Sampson, J. Y. Finch, W. E, . llicL ards, G. Heinz, 11. Paterson, Joseph Hutchison, W. T. H. Owens, T. M. Kerr, W. Willoughby, H. W. R, Sweiu ey. All’ W. E. Richards was chosen foreman . Air Elcock challenged A. E. Hansford, J. Alonk, H. D. Stapleton, J. Paterson. Mr Park ordered to stand by:—S. Whitehead, J. Johnson, P. J. Kirwau, A. Krakoskv, R. Whiley, T. Moyniliaji, C. T. Pfahlert, E. Howat, F. J. Andrews, S. Preston, J. A Knowles, Wm. Jeffries, H. Butland, G. A. Cederman, T. Crough. The remaining jurors were discharged from .further attendance. The Court was cleared during the hearing of the charge. The Court adjourned at 1 p.m. till 2.15 p.m.
