UNITED PARTY CANDIDATES. AUCKLAND, June 12. The Auckland provincial executive of the United Party decided last night to recommend the endorsement by the Dominion executive of the candidature for the general (-lection of Mr M. J. Moore (Manukau) and Mr C. I. Harkness (Franklin), Mr Mooi-o is thirty-seven years of age, and since his return from the war lias been in business in Onohungu as a lurnl agent and auctioneer. Ho is a nauntier of Urn Borough Council, Ho was an all-round athletic in his younger days, and at one time was amateur champion light-wqight boxer of New Zealand and Australia. He gamed re presentative honours at hockey.

Mr Harkness is a Waiuku farmer, and has held office in the district branch of the Farmers’ Union. For some years he lived .in Horowhenya, when he served as a member of the local County Council, and also as a member of the Wellington Education Board. He is a son of Mr J. G. Harkness, who was member of Parliament for Nelson. Air Harkness unsuccessfully contested the Otaki seat as a Nationalist in 1925.

CLUTHA ELECTORATE.

DUNEDIN, June 12

The general election'in Clutlra promises to be one of the most interesting in the electorate’s history, says the “Cluther Leader.” In addition to Mr F. Waite, the present member, who will carry the Re orm banner, and Mr P. M’Skimming. who is announced as the United party candidate, three others are mentioned as likely to stand. Mr Joseph Stephens, who polled well at the 1928 election, will probably bear the Labour standard, while Mr J. R. Wilson; late chairman of the Olutba County Council, and Mr John Christie are also mentioned as candidatesr the former as an Independent, and the latter as an advocate of the old Liberal-Labour policy of Mr Seddon’s time.,,
