BAND CONTEST
NEXT FEBRUARY AT WELLINGTON. (By Telegraph —Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 12. At the annual meeting of the Wellington Land Contest Committee, ttie President, Mr H. D. Bennett, in his report, stated the abandoned contest would he held in Wellington in February next, Air Bennett announced that arrangements for the single control of New Zealand bands had been finalised, and the old North Island and South Island Associations had been dissolved in favour of a single body with its headquarters in Wellington. Air J. J. Kelly, of New South Wales was appointed adjudicator for the contest with Air A, Schwk os mUVant.
The programme provides for cash prizes amounting to £307 for the A. Grade tests, and £179 for the B. Grade with £75 for the quickstep competition. There will also he an “own choice” hymn contest, open to both grades. A departure will he made from the usual custom in that the contest will commence with the big marches on the Saturday, instead of that evont being staged on the last day.
