A new indication of Russia’s persistent elforts to find additional markets for the flood of manufactures produced under the Five Year Plan is apparent in Auckland. Recently there was a controversy in Auckland over tli<> quantities of Russian matches available, which were be ing sold at an exceedingly cheap price. One purchaser of cigarettes did not notice the country of origin until he had reached the street. Fie then became aware that lie had in his possession Russian cigarettes, Finnish marches, a French pipe, and American folia cco.
