RAID ON MOTOR-CAR.- , PROVISIONS FOR A PARTY. I WELLINGTON, June 10. Thieves who took Air C. S. Brice's car from its parking place in the city recently were on the look-out apparently for food. They were rewarded with a fairly rich haul, but they took in their zeal quite- a number of par ecus which contained various other things such as crockery and garments. All Brice explained the circumstances ot the theft last evening, and said that everything that was taken might have looked like food. Two brand new golf clubs, belonging to a friend, were left in the car. Mr Brice-,parked the ear outside his firm’s premises in Victoria Street at 4.00 p.m. He lied been watched, evidently. because when lie returned quarter of an hour later the car «-s gone. Late at night it was found b\ the police outside the skating r nk at the Winter Show building. When recovered hy Mr Brice the ear was quite undamaged and had lieen driven only a mile or two. Provisions had been laid in by Air Brice that afternoon for a children’s party, and there was a large quantit' - of food and drink in the ear when he parked it in Victoria. Street:, ft. contained also two suitcases, and there were certain articles of wearing .apparel, brass fittings for a fi-vpnle. grass seed and plants. It might all have looked like food, lie said. When the ear was recovered everything was gone except the golf clubs
Mr Brice has been advertising for the recovery of the articles in the following terms:—“lf the person who took my ear was in need of food lie got a good haul and is welcome to it-, but would he lie. sport enough to return other gear which is of value of me and little use or value to him?”
Up till last evening, however, lie had heard nothing, although he bored that whoever took the goods would let him know where they were to he found.
