NAPIER’S POPULATION
CETTING BACK TO NORMAL. DIFFICULTY OF HOUSING. IBy J'eleyruph —Pei Press Association) NAPIER, June 12. The fact that 110 empty houses are aval la me in Napier is a clear indiejitio. 1 that tiie population oi the city is now hacit to normal as far as adults iini CAJIK (.‘l’iltHl. I i,e Relief Committee has advertised unsuctesstully for houses in order to dear the parks ol camps, but lenia are still in use. Another feature of the progress being made is the number ol families tuning hoarders even in small houses and m some eases two families are sharing cottages. Another good barometer is the circulation of the “Daily Telegraph” which is hack to normal. it is not claimed that all Napier’s pre-shake residents are returned, but their absence is more than covered by new comers many of whom are old Napier people who have been away for years, and who intend in many eases to permanently settle here. When houses are available newcomers desiring to come to Napier would be wise to arrange accommodation beforehand.
