PR OCEEDINGS AT ASSEMBLY. [By Telegraph, Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 9. The General Assembly agreed that the next Assembly be held at Christchurch on February 23, 1932. It was agreed to set up a committee to consider the whole question of lessons taught in Sunday School. The committee which was set up to consider the economic situation and its bearing on the work of the enure]], recommended that the Assembly instruct its committees to observe economy wherever possible, and that no extension of the work involving increased expenditure be undertaken meanwhile. That the Budget and Weekly Fteewill Officering Committee proceed to secure increased ; support, and that the presbyteries take steps to amalgamate weaker charges, wherever possible. Resuming .the discussion of the .foreign mission report in the Presbyterian General Assembly to-day, Rev. W. Mawson moved, and the ASsembly agreed, that Miss Jean McNeur be appointed to the Canton Villages Mission, and that a male surgeon be appointed to Kong Ghuen hospital. Mr Mawson also referred to the visit of Dir Koo, and moved that the Assembly express appreciation of the value ot Dr Koo’s visit in strengthening the Christian cause.

Dr Gibb, in seconding the motion, which was agreed to unanimously, said that they had no need to despair of the Christian faith so long as it couh turn out such men as Dr Koo. Mrs A. D. Thomson brought in the report of a committee to consider what help might be given to assist in the repairs of lona College. It was agreed that from the Church Relief Fund the sum of £IOOO be granted towards the repairs. Mr Thomson stated that the total damage to the church property was in the vicinity of £50,000, of which £25,000 was found in . one congregation. The sum raised up to the present by church subscriptions was £6,500, out of which £4,500 had already been paid. The Committee recommended that a further appeal to the congregations be made through the columns of the “Outlook” Mr Thomson pointed out that the possibility of receiving any assistance from the Rehabilitation Commission was very remote, and that the bureau would fall upon the churches. The report was adopted.
