IN A LONELY FURROW. MR LANG’S ATTITUDE. MELBOURNE, June 9. At the Premier’s Conference, Mr Lang took exception to -Mr Lyons criticism of the policy of the Governments in the past, and lias threatened to leave the conference.
Mr Lang said; “As far as New South Wales is concerned it will not allow Mr Lyons or anyone else to interefer. If be is going to come in and attempt to dictate I will cease to be a member of the conference.” SYDNEY, 'June 9. Public lnen generally condemned Mr Lang’s proposal to effect Government economies by reducing all Public Service salaries to a minimum of £509 a year. While agreeing that all-round, sacrifices are necessary, they considered the scheme savoured of Communism, that it was impracticable and was directed unfairly "against one class. Mr Bavin said he could hardly believe that plan was put forward seriously, and he would reserve any comment until he heard more about it.
