R.A.F. DISPLAY

remarkable machines., GREATEST INTEREST SHOWN. (British Official Wireiess.) , RUGBY, June 5. The annual Royal Air loro© display, .vliich is the most wonderful of its kind in the world, and was seen last year by 150,000 people, among whom were .many who came specially from abroad will this year include some remarkthe new features.

There will be shown the launching of a huge bombing machine by the remarkable new catapult device; the refuelling of machines while in the air, and displays of craft flying at more .than 2(K) miles an hour, and climbing at a. rate of 20,000 feet in ten minutes. The recent increase in the size of dying-boats has made the experiments with refuelling in air of practica value since it is difficult for these craft to take off when carrying a heavy load of petrol. At the Hendon display, which has been fixed for June 27, this will be effected with land machines. The tanker machines will be automatically controlled by a .gyroscope so that it cannot deviate from a straight course while the supply pipe is connected to the machine being loaded. Much interest is being taken in the lirst public appearance of the new intercepter fighters of the HawkerFury pattern, with a rate of climb exceeding anything before seen.
