GOVERNOR OF MALTA
NEW APPOINTMENT MADE. RUGBY, June 4. The King has approved the appointment of Genera] Sir David Campbell. General Officer Commanding-in-Chiof the Aldershot Command, to be Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Malta, in succession to General Sir .John du Cane.
General Sir David Campbell, K-C. B. is a cavalry office]', who has seen service in many parts of the world. He is also an excellent rider, hiis suc-o-vises including the Grand National Steeplechase when lie’rode The Soarer, in 1800. and many other principal races. He is sixtv-two years old. Sir John du Cane recently asked to Vie permitted to resign on .account of ill-health.
