WATERSIDER’S DEATH

DUNEDIN, June 8
George Frederick Cory, married, a watersjder. died in the hospital this morning from injuries to his head, sustained on May 19th.
The deceased was engaged unloading coal from the- Waikouaiti when he overbalancet! and let!, .striking his head on the wharf.
A FATAL ENDING
DUNEDIN, June 8
Alexander M. McLeod, single, aged 21. who was admitted to till© hospital on Christmas Day as the result of a motor cycle accident, died this morning. Deceased was found on the road, apparently baaing collided with a post, Iracturing his skull. He was discharged from the hospital on January 24tn. and readmitted on May 22nd. for head trouble, -as a result of the accident, being operated on shortly after.
GUN ACCIDENT
WAIPUKURAU, June R
Gordon L. Been*, married was in the act of lifting a shotgun from the sideear of a motor cycle yesterday afternoon, when the weapon discharged, the victim received the full force in the left foren rm.
After first aid treatment he was admitted to Waipukurnu hospital where an operation was performed.
A FRESH POLL.
WAIPUKURAU, June 8
As the result of a magisterial decision declaring the poll taken on May (sth on the half holiday question null and void a fresh poll will be taken on June 17th.
DEATH FROM FOOTBALL
WHANGAREI, June 8.
Alex Keith. 30, while playing football at Taipuka on Saturday was temporarily laid out by a severe blow on the head, as the result ot a collision. Pater on he resumed and finished the game. He then complained of pains in the head and died when being conveyed to a nearby residence.
A verdict of accidental death was returned at the inquest.
ARRESTS MADE
TAUMAREN'T, June 8.
This morning .while H. Glynn, officer in charge of Waikune Prison camp and two warders were searching for a man who escaped from Rnngipo Prison camp last Thursday, they caught another man in John Cullen’s residence, National Park and arrested him, on a charge of breaking and entering. A few min files later they apprehended three men with a car. which is alleged to have been stolen from l’ukekiohi last night.
