PRISONERS SENTENCED'. (By Telegraph —Per Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, June 5. Prisoners sentence! by Judge Adam a to-day were: For sheep stealing near Tiniaru, Percy Clifford Holland, 23, "a labourer, a year’s gaol. His Honour said that the crime appeared to have been carried out in a deliberate fashion, under financial pressure. Gerald .Swanson, 33, a 'labourer, assault with intent to commit rape, seven years’ imprisonment. The offence was carried out with brutality and the prisoner lias a bad record said the ,J udge. Roderick Gordon Stammers, 37, a salesman, forgery, six months’ imprisonment. He altered a cheque from £2 to £Ld. The Probation Officer’s report was bad, said the Crown.
A COURT DECISION. CHRISTCHURCH, June 5. Judge Adams gave a verdict lor Dr. Tlmcker in a claim for damages to a car lent to him by South Island Motors Ltd. The Judge said the defendant Was not liable for the chauffeurs wrongful act in taking the car for his own Use and damaging it. POSTMASTER SENTENCED. DUNEDIN, June (j.
