A wide area around the old refinery at Mainesthi was speedily converted into a sea. of flames, when lightning exploded and set fire to u group of oil reservoirs. The inferno r rns so sudden tljat it is feared many oil workers were burned to death. The panic striken populace evacuated the town and firemen were powerless.
