PANAMA HOTEL FIRE. ANOTHER VICTIM DIES. WELLINGTON, May 30. Karl Kraus, a barman, aged 26 years, who was burned in the Panama Hotel fire, died at the Hospital today. Kraus, in addition to burns, was injured when he jumped from the first floor to the pavement. £SO FINE ON BOOKMAKER. CHRISTCHURCH, May 30. Walter Aliiielcl, aged 47, for carrying on business as a bookmaker, was lined £s*o, by Air E. D. Aloslcy, S.M., to-day. The police said that the accused was doing business in a fairly large way. He had been arrested this morning after an interview with detectives.. TWO BOOKMAKERS FINED. AUCKLAND, May 30“They are dangerous men and wo have- information they were going to “welsh” and clear off to Australia,’ - said Detective Sergeant Kelly, when Clifford Spencer Dublin, aged 36. with many aliases, and Reginald Clarence Williams, appeared at the Police Court charged with using premises as a. common gaming house. The detective added that it was apparent that the men were out to take down the public.
