AEROPLANE CRASH

TWO MEN BADLY HURT. (United Press Association.—By Klectru Telegraph—Copyright). BLENHEIM, May 31. A serious crash occurred at Wood-/ bourne Aerodrome shortly after one o’clock to-day, - resulting in grade injuries to Pilot Frank Y. Lysons,. of Hawera, and his passenger, Cyril Corywright, of Auckland. They had flown from Christchurch, en route to . Wellington, and we,re about to land. The machine got out of control over the aerodrome and spun into the ground, striking with such force that the engine wa s partly, buried, and the whole machine was reduced to a shapeless mass, no part of which will be salvageable. Fortunately, there was no fire, and assistance was speedily at hand to remove the airmen from the wreck They were removed to Wnirnu Hospital, where both were operated on this afternoon. Corywriglit is the more seriously injured. He is suffering from fractured limb s and internal injuries. J sons' injuries include a badly broken ankle, and foot, and he, is gen- [ orally knocked about. \ 'i Lysons recently returned from a trip to England, where he , purchased the aeroplane, which is the latest tvpe of Snartan Arrow. It was assembled at tVigram last week, and Lysons was flying it home to Hawera, intending to drop Corywriglit at Wellington. Both men hold pilots’ licenses. VICTIM’S DEATH. BLENHEIM. June 1. Cyril Corywriglit, one of the victims of yesterday’s air crash, died at nine this morning. Lyssons’ condition is satisfactory.
