SATURDAY, YUY 30th. This evening, IYA will relay a concert to be given in the Auckland Town Hall by the Municipal Band, under the direction of Mr George Buckley. o' At 7.40 at 2YA. a lecturette under tho auspices of the W.E.A. will be given by Professor C. A. Cotton, Professor of: Geology, Victoria University College, on “Causes of Earthquakes.” A feature of 2YA’s evening concert session will be a one-act comedy, “Rent Free,” to be played by Mr and Mrs J. W. Bailey, the Auckland entertainers. The Melodie Four will supply the vocal portion of tho programme. They will be heard in quartettes and solos. The Salon Orchestra will play the Incidental music.
For this evening’s Variety prol gramme from 3YA (relayed to 4AA) tho contributing artists will be Mr Jock Lockhart (Scottish humorist), ytrs H. Turnbull (mezzo-soprano), Mr T. T). Williams (baritone), Miss Irene Morris (violiniste), Air Norman G(i<offin (cornetist), the Hilo Harmony Four (with steel guitars and ukulele) and the Studio Trio.
The church services to be broadcast to-morrow evening will be: —
IYA.—Unitarian Church Preachers, Revs. Wilna L. Constable and Wm. A. Constable. 2YA.—Vivian Street Baptist Church. Rev. W. S. Rollings. 3YA. Knox Presbyterian Church. Preacher, Rev. T. W. Armour. 4YA. Knox Presbyterian Church. Preacher, Rev. D. C. Herron.
MONDAY, JUNE Ist. A special programme of solo and chorus work will be presented at 2A A this evening by the choir of St. Man of the Angels Church, in conjunction with the 2YA Orchestrion. The whole programme will be under the direction and conductorship of Signor A. P. Truda. Of special interest will be the nerforpin nee of Beethoven’s “Mass in C,” liturgically arranged by Czerninski with full orchestral accompaniment. This has not previously been broadcast. The vocalists will lie Mrs A. P. Truda, Miss Alary Bald and Alessrs MeGuiness Stanp and Stanton. Other interesting numbers on tlie programme will be a vocal trio by Cherubini, and Bruch’s “Violin Concerto” which is to be played by Miss Avn Symons and a ’cello solo bv Air, Claude Tanner, with orchestral accompaniment. • The-New Brighton Afimicipal . Band. (Conductor J. A. Nuttall) and assisting 3YA artists will provide the programme from the Christchurch station. The vocalists will include two new radio performers—Miss Jeanetta Dickson (soprano) and Air Archibald Macquftiri'ie (baritone) —both well known in Christchurch musical circles. Airs Nellie AVhjtworth (contralto) and Air H. E. Good land (humorous reciter) will also be contributing. As a cornet solo, Bandsman Barsby will piny “Scenes that are Brightest.” The speaker during- the Internationa nl Programme from 2Y A will be the Hon. G. M. Thompson, AI.L.C.. whose subject will be—“lndia and her Prob- , lems as viewed from a.n international standpoint.” Silent day at. IYA.
