This evening, IYA will relay from the Auckland Town Hall the .first or the 1931 concerts ito be.giyen by. the Royal Auckland Choir, under the conductorship of Dr A. \V. Thomas. Fine part-singing has always been a delightful feature of the .ojiojr’s P 1 grammes. This will be the first time that the choir has broadcast "and listeners will welcome the opportunity of hearing the concerted singing of eighty well-trained voices. A concert to be given by the Wanga.nui Garrison Band will be broadcast by 2YA on relay from Wanganui tins evening. 3YA will be relaying from the Civic Theatre the demonstration concert to be given by the prize winners at the 21st annual festival of, the Christchurch Competitions Society. Silent day at 4YA. FRIDAY, MAY 29th.
A hoy-soprano in the person of Master Ivan Dunn, will make his first appearance at IYA this evening. 'lnis lad, possesses a voice that will please listeners. Mister llee, always a welcome entertainer, will dispense “Radio Magic.” The popular bassbaritone, Mr Albert- Gibbons Taylor, will Si ng several numbers, also Mr Frank Campbell, another one of Auckland’s outstanding broadcasters, will ■be heard again. Mr J. M. Clark and Miss 1 Joyce Houkl, elocutionists, will give a scene from “The Honeymoon” (by Tobin) and also a scene from “i-jamiet.” Instrumental items will be given by -the Orchestral Octet. 2Y.A’s programme this evening will consist of tUe broadcast 011 relay from the Victoria University College, Wellington, of a debate entitled “That Democracy is a Failure.” Marglierita ZepUida, coloratura soprano, who has been appearing at the YA stations under special engagement to the Broadeasb.bg Company, will ne leutureci at tit A A vaudeville turn in song and patter, the artists b*--nig Mr Les. Grmnmict\nt the piano) and Mr Albert Carlisle (tenor) will also form part of the evening’s'programme. Miss' '.Vfarsie Ottey, talented pianiste, will be heard in light classical munadd juzz novelties.
