.WEDNESDAY, MAY 27th. Tlie progress results of the Hauraki bye-election will be broadcast .bj’ all stations this evening. The IYA Studio concert will be given by the Salvation Army Congress Hall: Band, under the direction 01 Bandmaster Paicc. Humour will be provided by Mr Trevor Binns. Mr J. Ainsley * 1 Daglish (tenor) and Miss Gwladys Payne (soprano) will be heard in several s°los and duets. A new artist to IYA will be Mr D. Edgar Thomas, Welsh baritone. The programme will conclude with a gramophone recital by Miss Molly Atkinson, entitled “Schubert—Master Oi Melody.”
The speaker for the International programme at 2YA will he Dr Guy H. Seholefield, 0.8. E. Professor It. C. Zimmerman, the violin virtuoso who ,h«s delighted 3YA listeners on two previous oc- , casions, will be heard this evening. Sketches acted by Mr and Mrs J. W. Bailey, of Auckland, will lie additional features on the programme, while Miss Myrtle Wraight (mezao-coiitralto) and Mr David McGill (tenor) will contribute solos. There will be an orchestral programme by the Studio Octet. A concert to be given in the Town Hall this evening by tlie Dunedin Returned Soldier's Choir, under Mi John T. Leech, will be broadcast by 4YA. 'Phe accompanist will be Air Clias. A. Martin, Alas. BaC., L.A.B.
THURSDAY, MAY 28tli. This evening, IYA will relay from the Auckland Town Hah tlie first of the 1931 concerts to be given by the Royal Auckland Choir, under tlie conductorship of Dr A. W. Thomas. Fine part-singing has always beeir a delightful feature of the choir’s programmes. This will be the first time •that the choir lifts broadcast and listeners will welcome the opportunity of hearing the concerted singing of eighty well-trained voices.
