i TUESDAY, MAY 26th. . The first instalment of the series oi International programmes will ,be broadcast from IYA this evening. Sir James Parr, ex-High Commissioner will be the speaker, his subject being ‘‘/Impressions of the League of Nations.” The 2YA concert session will include many interesting features in addition to marking tlie second appearance of Margherita Zelanda. Mr Noho Toki, Maori tenor, whose delightful renditions of his own native songs'are always acceptable, will he heard, in two numbers with orchestral . accompaniment. Dorrie and Laurie, a novelty combination well above the 'average, will again entertain. Miss Gwhadys Edwardes , soprano, will sing three songs with violin, ob-igati—“The Red Sarafan,’’ “Sacrament” and “Because of You” also, with orchestral accompaniment, “At Nightfall’’ and “Eyes that used to gaze in Mine.” The Salon Orchestra will supply the instrumental music of the evening. I The Kaikorai Band, under Mr T. 1 ,J. Kirk-Burnnand, with assisting 4YA artists, will present a special programme entitled “Around Great Britain and Ire and in two hours—from Cork to Dublin, from Belfast to London.” 'The programme will, be composed of Irish, Scottish and English elements and should prove a very popular entertainment. The vocalists, will be the Harmonists Quartet, with . humour from Mr B. Brown, and trio | items from Messrs A. H. Pettitt, K. Hunter and T. Law. Silent dav at 3YA. ,
WEDNESDAY, MAY 27th. The progress results of the Hauraki bye-election will be„ broadcast by all stations this evening. The IYA Studio concert will be given by the Salvation Army Congress Hall Band, under the direction oi Bandmaster Paieo. Humour will he provided by Mr ■Trevor 13inns. Mr J. Aiusley Daglish (tenor) and Miss Gw.adys Payne (soprano) will be beard in several ados and duets. A new artist to I\A will be Mr D. Edgar Thomas, Welsh baritone. The programme will conclude with a gramophone recital by Miss Molly Atkin--,;n, entitled “Schubert—Master of Melody. ” Tlie. speaker for the International orogranime at 2YA will be Dr Guy HScholefield, 0.8. E. Professor R. C. Zimmerman, the violin virtuoso who delighted 3Y.A listeners on two previous occasions, will ho heard this evening. Sketches acted by Mr and Mrs J. W. Bailey, of , Auckland, will be additional features on the programme, while Mite Myrtle Wraight (mezzo-coiitr a ito) and Mr David McGill . (tenor) will contribute solos. There will be an orchestral programme by the Studio Octet. A concert to be given in the Town Hall this evening by the Dunedin Returned Soldier’s Choir, under Mr John T. Leech, will be broadcast by 4YA. The accompanist will be Mr Gluts. A. Martin, Mas. Bart L.A.B.
