MURCHISON CARNIVAL
THE HANDICAPS. REDUCTION IN PRIZES. For the Murchison Axemen’s and [Athletic Association’s Carnival on June 3rd it lias been found necessary to reduce the prize money of the 120 yards Sheffield from £2O to £lO owing to the desired number of competitors not -forthcoming. This step is regrettable and difficult to understand in view of the excellent dido cement offered. ■ The Grand Upright Chop and Grand •Underhand Chop have also been reduced from £42 10s to £32 for the same, frenson. ; Keen competition is, however, an'jticipated, as the class of competitors j nominated is particularly attractive. [Competitors will, of course, only have •to meet the nomination and acceptance, ‘fees on the reduced scale. ■ While the Association has to curtail .rihe expenditure to safeguard itself, ji,the number of competitors entered for i each event is qmite sufficient to give Jan excellent exhibition and a line ,r .... H day’s sport is anticipated. A The following handicaps have been declared:— 120yds Sheffield.—J, O’Malley (Cro- ; padun) Iyd, T. Beveridge (Nelson) 3, LO. V. Griffiths (Tapnwera) 5, L.
