AUCKLAND, May 22
At the opening of the annual exhibition of the Auckland Society of Arts, Lord Bledisloe offered to give a silver medal annually for the picture deemed to be the most meritorious reproduction of New Zealand scenery, which he extolled. He also, offered (£lO as a prize in a contest for the best design for this medal. The competition would not be confined to Auckland. Both offers, were accepted.
Lord Bledisloe declared that the Dominion scenery wais the- most perfect variety anywhere in the world, giving wonderful scope for artists, both commercially and from a national viewpoint.
