GOVERNMENT BILL. (Australian Press Association.) SYDNEY, May 21. A new Transport Bill was introduced into the New South Wales Assembly to-day by the Premier, Mr Lang. The Bill aims at penalising competitors with the railways and the tramways. Tile Premier pointed out that the State's heaviest liabilities were due to tlie losses on the railways anc tramways, which had cost nearly one hundred and thirty-eight millions sterling. In addition, roads and bridges had been built at a n enormous cost to the taxpayers, whereas, the road users were paying only a 'small percentage of the capital outlay and the maintenance. The Government intended to tackle the t a sk of making the railways and the tramways pay. and the Transport Bill won Id enable the task to begin at , once.
