LABOUR SPLIT. (Australian Press Association) i Received this day at 9.40 a.m.) SYDNEY, May 20. The ‘‘Herald” says an influential section o; Labour members oi the Legislative Council have definitely revolted against the new Lang Plan pledge. At the Caucus meeting last night, only sixteen out of thirty-three in the House attended. Many of those opposed to the plan declined to attend. Of those present, six announced they would decline to sign the pledge. The remainder, who were Lang supporters indicated they had no objections to it.

Steps have been taken to convene a meeting of those opposed to the Lang pledge to form an independent caucus, pledged to the Federal Australian Ihour Party.

NATIONAL PARTY. MELBOURNE, May 20. A convention attended by two hundred and fifty delegates, who had belonged to different political parties, was held when tne leadership of -Mr Lyons was approved, and re.orence was made to the. disaster that had befallen New South Wales bv reason of Lang's dictatorship. Mr A. Heath, the original executive member of the All for Australia League in New South Wales, resigned his position because he thinks the League is a developing machine for politics. He also objects to the League’s refusing to give the same measure of cooperation to New South Wales National Party, as it has given to the Federal political sphere. Mr Gibson, president of the League in New South Wales, says there are important questions on which the League does not agree with New South Wales National Party, and that co-op-eration is not possible.
