Muir be transferred from Excelsiors to Rivals wa,s acr ed to after discussion. The President said Muir was a member of the Rival Club, and- had not been transferred to Excelsiors, but had placed on Saturday week for them against Blaketown.
Mr Stokes (Blaketown) said bis club still had fourteen days in which tc enter a protest.
The President said they would ( be, losing the whole spirit of the game over matters. He was sorry to see this sort of protest business. They had to make a stand where the clubs were constantly infringing. Quite a lot of cases were trivial.
Mr Stokes said the action was not.; consistent with the rules. The President said it was rather a poor tendency to divert to professional ml >s. Mr O’Donnell stated that in fhi« case there were exceptional circumstances. Muir played for Rivals in their first ,vamo. and it had then k->en understood they were to disband, but. tliW had got together again. The PremUnt said there appeared to be no ob'eetion as between the two Hokitika clubs over the transfer. Mr Itynn s !l ir) D lake town could have had another win Jiad they known earlier. Mr O’Donnell suggested writing to the Westland Sub-Union asking that it, forward a list of players and the referees’ reports and the results of games. In a case such as the one before them, they were in the dark regarding players and transfers r ' this nature. The suggestion w«s adopted, a ud the transfer was acceded to. Reference was made to the late time of starting of the Rlaketown-Ex-eolsior match at Hokitika on batuiday week, owing to the latter team arriving on. the field at 3.20 p.m., was made by Mr Stokes. It gave the vi,siting team »o opportunity to catHi the return train to Greymouth. The home team should he on the field in «ood time. There was a ruling in Hokitika that the team that was not on the field a 3.15 p.m., lost the game.
The President said that even if that were the ease, the Sub-Union had no voice in the matter unless the referee had been instructed bv this Union. It was decided to draw the SubUnion’s attention to the late arrival of the home team at Hokitika, a s Greymouth club.s had complained. Mr A. A. Adams was appointed sole selector for West Coast representative teams. It w ns decided to entertain the Maori touring team at a grand hall during their visit to Greymouth on August 25th and 26th.
