THE MAUI POMARE

RUMOUR OF SALE TO PRIVATE ENTERPRISE. DUNEDIN, May 18. The Dunedin Chamber of Commerce decided to-night to ask the Prime Minister if reports that the Government is prepared to sell the motor-ship Maui Pom are to a private enterprise are correct. If the reply is in the affirmative, tile Prime Minister is to be reminded that the vessel was specially designed for trading between Samoa and South Island ports, ami that the proposed sale will be strongly resisted by the chamber except on the condition that the present service is maintained and that tenders for purchase are invited in the leading Dominion newspapers.
