SATURDAY’S RESULTS.

SENIORS. Excelsiors 14, v. Cobden 14, Blaketown 16, v. Rivals 3. Star 6, v. United 3. JUNIORS. Rimu 19, v. Excelsiors 6.

BLAKETOWN V. RIVALS. This game was played on Cass Square before a moderate attendance and resulted in a win for Blaketown by 16 points (four tries, two converted) to 3 points (a penalty goal.) The Rivals attacked a good deal in the opening half, but there was a lack of combination, and many good opportunities went astray as a result of bad handling and faulty passing at a critical point in the movement. Towards the end of the spell McEnnuey scored a try far out, and a few minutes later Lem in got . over from a nice passing run, Pascoe converting and half-time came with Blaketown loading by 8 to 0. Rivals opened an attack in the second half and individual efforts nearly resulted in a score. Then from a penalty in front AVehster kicked a neat goal. EXCELSIORS V. COBDEN. ’Ehis game was played at Cobden and resulted in a draw 14 points each, after a very exciting game. In the first half. Excelsiors opened an attack and from a passing run Schroder went over to score the first try. M.artyn failing to convert. Cobden then took a hand at attacking and from a passing run AY i I son scored for Cobden for J. King to convert. Shortly after Mead went over for another try which J. King failed to improve. Before the end of the spell came, Cob den added a further six points, tries being obtained by Gordon and Bluett, neither being converted. Half-time came with C'ohden leading by 14 to 3. In the second half the Excelsior backs made the play but the finishing touch just failed on several occasions. Then from a penalty Alartyn kicked a nice goal. Soon after in a passing run R. King scored near the corner, for Alartyn to convert. Then* was sonic clever play on both sides, Ex celsiors making every endeavour to add to the total. Shortly before time from »a loose rush L. Hughes scored near the posts, hut with the easiest, kick'of the day .Alartyn failed to im Provo and time was called .with the ■Hires II all RIMU V. EXCELSIOR. I he junior game on No. 2 ground between Rimu and Excelsior teams show, ed that the country team had a decided advantage aiid in the end they had the substantial score of 19 points to their opponents 6. Excelsiors score was made up of two penalty goals by Hamilton.
